Healthy Pregnancy

Pre-Pregnancy, Fertility Management and Family Planning

Before getting pregnant, you may have many questions. A planned preconception consultation will allow us to identify health needs that can affect pregnancy and together we can formulate an individualized plan of care.

Our goal is to provide you with information to improve your health status by identifying factors that could contribute to poor maternal and child health outcomes. Pre-pregnancy counseling will help:

  • Prevent unintended pregnancies
  • Prevent complications during pregnancy and delivery
  • Prevent stillbirths, preterm birth and low birth weight
  • Prevent birth defects
  • Prevent neonatal infections
  • Prevent vertical transmission of HIV and sexually transmitted infections

Prenatal Care

The primary goal of prenatal care is to provide a healthy maternal and fetal pregnancy outcome. Prenatal care includes appropriate pregnancy planning, education, risk assessment, and continuous medical maternal and fetal surveillance throughout each trimester of pregnancy. Pregnancy is divided into three trimesters lasting approximately 13 weeks each. Babies born before 37 weeks are considered premature. Premature newborns may have complications such as growth and development and many times, they will have problems breathing and feeding on their own outside of your womb.
